Waiheke Island wedding photographer and videographer

There was a storm brewing in the lead up to Sarah & Rob’s wedding. Weather reports were foreboding – expect heavy rain and gale-force winds.
I began to wonder about the ferries – would they be running?? The joys of an island wedding! Luckily – on the day, everyone made it over to Waiheke without a hitch. The storm rolled in, and we watched the rain trickling down the windows, as outdoor bean bags flew through the air on the lawn.
Sarah & Rob took everything in their stride though – the weather didn’t dampen their spirits one bit!

Their planned ‘first look’ ended up being inside – and then, miraculously – we had a break in the rain, to seek out the shelter in the bays for some photos. Funnily enough – the only thing we didn’t end up with was one of those killer ‘rain photos’ that we so love to do – as the rain had disappeared entirely! Their guests had gathered at ‘The Venue’ in Onetangi by this stage, and their beautiful ceremony took place tucked in the shelter of the courtyard.

During the reception, I noticed that the rain had begun to fall again – so we sneaked outside to finally get the cool rain photo (see the very last image of this blog post!) … and were joined by all the kids asking for their very own rain shot! Super cute.

I nervously updated the Fullers Ferry weather warnings throughout the evening – the 8.45 sailing was cancelled – and I was super hopeful the 11pm would still run… I was flying out the next morning for Sri Lanka, and being stuck on Waiheke wasn’t the ideal way to begin that trip!! Luckily, Mother Nature calmed down, and sailing home was smooth as butter.
So here’s a little sneak preview (edited and posted from Sri Lanka!) of Sarah & Rob’s wedding. This is just a tiny glimpse of the day – there are still more than 500 photos to follow.
