Juliette & Mahe Drysdale wedding – NZ wedding photographers
We photographed Juliette & Mahe Drysdale's wedding for Woman's Weekly magazine. Here's a whole heap more of our favourite wedding photos from their day. Read the full post by clicking below.
It was, without doubt, one of the wettest days we have encountered in our 300+ weddings over the last 6 years. The best part of it?
They didn’t let the weather phase them at all. Everyone pitched in, and we were rewarded with one of the most amazing weddings, ever.

Juliette & Mahe were married on their own property. In the months leading up to the day, they had planted hundreds of daffodil bulbs – with the hope that they’d be in full spring flower for the day.
Unfortunately, mother Nature had different ideas. The forecasted rain meant some last minute changes needed to be made. When we visited their house the day before the wedding… there was a new floor being laid in the barn. On the morning of the wedding, the boys were out in the rain – fixing the roof, and cutting down fences to let the bridal cars drive through. Meanwhile, the girls practised their flashmob dancefloor moves for later in the night, and Mahe fought with the printer. Luckily, there was still time for a glass of bubbles with gran before the ceremony!
All of a sudden, the girls could hear a massive racket… so took a look outside…
To see that the boys had now finished dressing up the woolshed for the ceremony… so obviously, it was time to shoot things.
Their ceremony took place inside the woolshed – with guests seated on rows of haybales, and stunning floral designs by Blush wedding flowers. Their friend & fellow Olympic rower, Nathan Twaddle, had registered as a marriage celebrant especially for their day… and he did an amazing job!!
The rain had actually eased up by the time we headed off for the creative shoot… leaving this beautiful mist wrapping the hills & trees around them. The background just slowly fades off into nothingness!
The reception was held at a nearby private residence, and it was an awesome party! All the ingredients of a great night – cool icebreaker games, hilarious speeches, a great band that kept the dancefloor pumping, and the girls got to put their flashmob dance into action!! This is the exact reason that we only offer full day wedding coverage (click to find out more) – imagine going home before the party gets into full swing!!
