30 October – 2008 Kodak Gold Awards

We have just received our prints back from the 2008 Kodak Gold Awards – we managed to pick up two awards each – Amber won two Silver Awards in the wedding category, and Isaac won a Silver in the wedding category, and a Gold in the portrait category.

Check out the winning images!

John & Shona’s wedding – sneak preview

Today (well yesterday, now that it’s now after 2am!) we photographed John & Shona’s wedding at Waipuna lodge, followed by a photo shoot at Bastion Point.

We were lucky enough to happen across some cool downlights in their hotel corridors for the getting ready shots – which gave some nice moody images!

The rain also held off (and the sun even made an appearance) for the entire for shoot, which was fantastic, considering the downpours earlier that morning!

John & Shona – thank you for being such a wonderfully happy couple, you were a joy to photograph!

P.S. – we were very excited when we arrived back in Hamilton at 11pm to find a letter from Kodak regarding our recent entries for the 2008 Kodak Gold Awards – two of Amber’s wedding images won Silver Awards, and Isaac won a Gold Award in the couples portrait category, and a Silver Award in the wedding category! Yay!

Don’t know which of the images they were yet (although we have a fair idea) – so once we know for sure we’ll post them up here!

Enjoy the photos, and stay tuned for more soon!

Russell & Heidi’s wedding

Last Saturday we photographed Russell & Heidi’s wedding at the Holy Trinity Church, and then a photo shoot at the Hamilton Gardens.

It was really fun – especially considering that they didn’t want to use any of the theme gardens, which gave us the opportunity to utilize areas of the Hamilton Gardens that we don’t usually have time to photograph in.

First up, the river – luckily we were able to use this, as two days before the entire jetty was under water! Then we meandered around the lake, and it was at about this time that the light was just perfect!

I love taking photos of people taking photos – it’s a quirky thing that I always capture if the moment presents itself!

Also the ones towards the end, the light is just perfect, and those shadows are cool!

So enjoy the photos, and we’ll be updating again soon with John & Shona’s wedding this coming Labour weekend.

Feel free to comment on any of our blog posts too – we love hearing from you!

More from Sam & Kate’s wedding

Here are a few more shots from Sam & Kate’s wedding last weekend, and keep an eye out for the online gallery on our “recent” page in the next few days.

I love the light in the 2nd shot – it shows off her fantastic dress nicely!

Sam & Kate’s wedding – sneak preview

Today we photographed Sam & Kate’s wedding at the Hamilton Gardens.

It was a beautiful sunny day, with just enough clouds to filter away the harsh shadows you get on sunny days – perfect!

Their ceremony was in the Rose Garden, with the rotunda providing the perfect setting for the group shot afterwards – I love the layering of people up the steps.

We then went for a stroll around the gardens with the bridal party for the photo shoot, again with some wonderful afternoon light for us to play with.

It was an awesome day – thanks to Kate, Sam, and their bridal party for being such willing models!

Enjoy the photos – more to follow soon!

More from Chris & Sophie’s wedding

The last two nights have been 2am finishes for me, as I’ve been flat out with processing – and have now finished Chris & Sophie’s wedding photos, which means the online gallery will be up soon on the “recent” page!

Here are a few shots in the meantime to keep you going – I especially like the one of Sophie with her cat – it’s not the framing that Amber originally shot the image in, but the crop suits it I think!

I also love the shot of the Grandparents during the ceremony – one of those amazing moments that really tell the story of a wedding day. (well done again to Amber for capturing a fantastic image!)

Enjoy the photos – and keep an eye out for the recent gallery soon!

More from Mark & Arwen’s wedding

Here are some more shots of the lovely Mark & Arwen.

Online gallery is also now up on the “recent” page.

Chris & Sophie’s wedding – sneak preview!

Yesterday we headed up to Cheltenham Beach in Auckland to photograph Chris & Sophie’s wedding.
Their ceremony had to be moved from the original location on the beach as it was pretty windy & cold, so instead they had it indoors at their reception venue, McHugh’s restaurant.

We were racing against daylight for the photo shoot, which took place at North Head, along with some cool beach shots down at Cheltenham. Being a Thursday wedding, those locations were nice & quiet, and the fading evening light looked amazing for photos – especially looking out over Rangitoto with a little extra light thrown in to bring the focus on to them

It was a really fun wedding – thanks to you both for inviting us to share in your day!

More photos to come soon!
